When a child is diagnosed with a life-limiting illness or a complex disability, their families can face much turmoil. At a time when they desperately want to focus on the needs of their child, many parents are faced with severe financial hardship as they reduce their working hours to care for their child. A desperate situation can quickly become unbearable.
The Charley Paige Trust is a grant-making Trust providing funds for equipment and services from medical / educational / recreational equipment, to travel and parking costs for the many hospital visits that families have to make.
Supporting sick children and their families. Aiming to:
-
Enhance the lives of life-limited and disabled children and young people
-
By purchasing equipment and services that can enhance their life
-
Supporting their families by easing financial hardship
-
Supporting Ward playrooms with recreational materials and equipment
-
Supporting other organisations that are helping these children

Future for Jaffna was established in June 2011 by two friends from the University of Nottingham, Umesh Kumar and Nicholas Rooney. They had a 'vision' to help those in need in Jaffna, not by simply giving handouts but to stir a change in the communities they worked with. Both of Umesh’s parents are from Jaffna, and the charity is small in size but has a strong personal connection to the area it works in.
Future for Jaffna is a UK registered charity (Charity Number: 1150107) which aims to relieve poverty in Jaffna, Sri Lanka. The Charity aims to empower widows of the civil war to set up their own businesses, from making clothes to weaving Palmyra bags. This will significantly improve the widows’ income, taking them out of poverty and enabling them to comfortably provide for their remaining family.
